It’s a narrative we’re already familiar with about children shuffled though orphanages and foster care, because in many cases it is a real life horror story. David Leslie Johnson will serve as an EP with Jen Gorton and Josie Liang overseeing for Entertainment One. Orphan introduces Esther as a lonely, distanced child who has a difficult time relating to other people and children her age. But Leena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.”ĭeadline recently reported that Dark Castle’s Alex Mace, Hal Sadoff and Ethan Erwin are producing with James Tomlinson. Synopsis: “ Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
Interesting note: The crew will attempt to turn Fuhrman into a preteen again through a combination of forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team. Jaume Collet-Serra’s Orphan is not 100 identical to The Good Son but it does a few things quite similarly.(I have written a more full review of this film here, if interested.
